Gawd, first Steven steals the fantasy league from me and now you swipe my traditional transfer spec thread. Is there no shame? Anyway our first transfer is said to be a £3mil Fat Geordie Bastard. Not sure who that is like!

Rafa also said that Robbie Keane would still be a Liverpool player after the January transfers....look how that turned out.

Hopefully he'll be telling the truth here though cause I really want Alonso to stay.

Your midfield is fine, you just need a cf and a cb.

Do you really need another centre back when you have Carragher, Skrtel and Agger? I do think you should have just kept Hypia for another season as cover though.

I thought the reason that Barry wanted to leave Villa was to play Champions League football. If he goes to Man City, he won't even be playing in the Europa League next season. I know Man City are obviously aiming for the Champions League, but that isn't guaranteed, even if they spend £50 million or more in the summer.
Barry would be perfect for Arsenal, if Wenger was willing to spend the money. Even Chelsea could do a lot worse than go for Barry.

well we do have san jose who looks a absolute belter in the reserves so i dont think rafa's gonna spend cash on another CB..as for sami rafa wanted him to stay but sami wanted to play more and that wasn't possible.

theres a really good chance sami will be back in 2 years to join the coaching staff.

as for barry i dont care who signs him as long as it aint us.

Bit weak by barry i reckon, he should have held out. Next summer he goes on a free and any of the top 4 would have him then. He'll be at least 30 by the time he's in the cl now because no matter who city signs its going to take them a while to start playing as a team, dont see them as a top 4 side next season for that reason.

Haha Barry, what a joke. So Villa wouldn't sell him to use for any elss that £20m, but then sell him to City for £8m less. Barry says his goal is to play CL footy, yet he's gone to a team that finished lower than Villa. I'm glad we don't have him, he's good, but he's not better than Xabi or Mascherano in my opinion.

Barry would have had more success stopping at Villa than going to Man City.

He's gone for the money and that's it.

I don't think that would stop them going for Alonso if they wanted him. I think it would be more likely to mean that Ronaldo is staying at Man Utd, if Madrid get Kaka.

TBH Barry was obviously going to cost less this year as he only had 12 months left on his contract and he still wanted to leave. Barry was still great for villa this year and after all he's done for them they shouldnt begrudge him cashing in. Speaking of cashing in apparently stevie g wants owen back at anfield. Thoughts? I think its a good idea, you could do worse.

Haha, I hope that happens. I think Liverpool could do a lot better than Owen. His goals per game ratio was okay for us, but he gets injured far too often, then it takes him ages to get back to scoring once he comes back. Plus the last time he came back from injury, he didn't score at all. I think it was something like 8 or 9 games without a goal. If I was Liverpool, I would much rather have Martins than Owen. I think Owen should play in a different league for a season. Maybe for Celtic and Rangers and get a load of goals to get his confidence back up, then move back to the Premier League.

He hasnt scored in 12 apperances but he got 10 in 20 before that. If you look at his goals per minutes played ratio though he's still europes deadliest finisher :P
but on a free and for 50k a week? Could be a bargain. Imagine if he stays fit!

For £100K+ a week I wouldn't be too happy with his goals per game ratio, the saying "You get what you pay for" comes to mind, and Newcastle definitely didn't. If he had stayed at Liverpool he could have been a club and premiership legend by now, but in 20 years time who will remember him as a legend?

Barry is a bargain for £12m. Liverpool could have done worse than selling Lucas and buying him. Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso won't stay fit all season long and with Rafa rotating he would have been a good option. Squad depth is what it's about. Man United don't have the best XI in the prem IMO, but have by far the best squad.

Premier League new boys Birmingham City have broken their transfer record to sign Ecuador striker Christian Benitez from Mexican club Santos Laguna. The fee has not been disclosed but is thought to be more than the £6.25m they paid for striker Emile Heskey in 2004

Well he is a Geordie! Apart from that he's a brilliant manager, lets shee how he does with his money. If he slaps 5 million on Shambles it won't be looking like a good start. :?

I agree that with those 4 as your options central midfeild you'd have a good selection and even though Lucas does make a few mistake every now and again, he did start to play better towards the end of the season. I think he just needs to get into his game more, I mean Ronaldo wasn't as good as he was for Man U in his first years. Now I'm not saying Lucas wil lreach Ronaldo levels (cause he won't), but I'm just using that as an example that a good player doesn't always take to the league in his first few seasons. The biggest problem with football these days is that if you don't instantly perform then you're out, it's true for managers and players. People need to be given more time to build success.

I think Wigan are struggle big time next season. This year they;ve lost Heskey, Bruce as manager and reports are saying Valencia is going to Man U

I'd rather not re-buy Owen, he doesn't seem to have the same desire he used to have unless there's an International game. Apparently we're interested in Kleber, a Brazilian striker who plays for Cruzeiro, he's apparently scored 19 goals in 21 games for them, so I'm hoping Rafa looks at other options than Owen.

Not really Transfer news, but it's all about summer football stuff. A quick look at the new Everton kits will give us a nice laugh. I think they're both horrid.

Bruce is an excellent manager, and he has some balls to take the Sunderland job as a geordie. Has hinted that he is in talks with players he could never have aspired to sign at Wigan, so promising times ahead for Sunderland hopefully (obviously depending on your point of view ;) )

David, your Chairman was on SSN yesterday, looks to be going about running the club in the right way, with him in charge it will take longer than Niall Quinn splashing the cash but you will get there and stay there by the sounds of it.

Lucas has potential Stewart, and he is a classic box to box player playing a holding role which doesn't suit him, but will he ever be first choice at Liverpool? I don't think he is good enough, I was excited when he signed and I saw some of the youtube clips of him in Brazil but he hasn't delivered, after 2 seasons you need more than potential.

I was disappointed that Bruce became Sunderland manager. I was hoping they were going to get someone ****. If things don't go well though, I think he could get some harsh treatment from the fans, with being a geordie. I'm sure he will do a good job though, unfortunately.

What do the Liverpool fans think of being linked with Tuncay? I think he would be a decent signing for them. He probably wouldn't always be first choice, but he's a pretty good player, who always seems fully committed.

I thought Real Madrid going for Kaka would mean that they wouldn't be going for Ronaldo, but the Madrid President has said that he is going to try to bring both players to the club. He always says he would be interested in Alonso.

Tuncay could be our new gary mcalister in that he could come in as and when needed could be a decent squad player.

Do Madrid have a manager currently? I think the new president has given himself a €200m budget, but that is probably just tabloid shite.

Nice one on the original post Hitman :)

Yeah, they appointed the Villarreal manager as their new manager. I don't know why they didn't just stick with Ramos. He had done a pretty good job, the short time he was there. I always find it strange, the way that the President's of some of the Spanish and Italian teams are the people who buy and sell the players.
