So in the 2nd round in the West in a series between the Sharks and Yotes the Wings will STILL find a way to win in 6? Damn. I know they're good, but not that good

Canadian television for tonight's early games is weird. TSN has the Habs-Caps game and CBC has the Bruins-Sabres game. Feels like it should be the other way around.

Anyways, damn near perfect first period by the Sens last night. Near-perfect in that there was still that PP goal they gave up. Other than that, they completely slowed down the Pens offense and didn't allow any scoring chances. That's the best way to play hockey on the road: Cool down the home team's offense and quiet the crowd.

I swear, I kept thinking to myself last night "How the hell are you guys letting the Coyotes stick around?! You're outplaying them! Shoot! Start being the more aggressive team! Something! Don't Lose!" And guess what? Let em hang around and sucked on the PK.

Nice win by the Habs last night, although it showed several times during the game that Halak is going to need to stand on his head to carry this team. Habs had some bad giveaways at various points, and Halak saved their ass often when they happened.

Sens are in tough now. Three key injuries (Kovalev, Kuba, Michalek).

Habs 3, Caps 1. That's my official prediction for Game 7 tonight.

I know, darn them Habs for not getting an empty netter.

I told that prediction to my coworkers in Gatineau (which, even though Ottawa is next door, is still a suburb of Montreal). A lot of them thought I was crazy. I just couldn't see how Washington was actually going to win. Their PP was nonexistent the whole series. Ovechkin was contained. Semin was the invisible man the whole series. Habs goaltending was better than Caps goaltending. Not only does Halak make lots of saves, but he prevents good rebounds from happening. If he can't hold a puck, he'll knock it to the side, allowing for a tough angle.

Good for the Habs, and a heck of a road game played by them last night.

It's going to make me sound jealous & bitter, but I get a warmfeeling seeing Syndey Crosby bounced out of the playoffs on home ice in a game 7 by the 8 seed.

It's been a crazy post-season so far, and it looks like it'll lead to a finals between two teams that haven't had a shot in a while. Philly is the closest, having been to the finals in '97, but overall it'll be fun to see another team shine for a bit. I do look forward to the match-up in the West between San Jose and Chicago, and of course Montreal vs. whoever wins tonight with Boston or Philly.

As you can tell, I'm sick of being told by the sports media this hyperbole about how the Pens are this big dynasty now even if they only won the cup once in that span so far.

Some might think I'm crazy here (hell, I'm crazy anyway), but I'm calling upset and saying Flyers in 6. I think Leighton is probably a bit hotter/better than Niemi. Philly seems a bit tougher and durable, as they have four guys who can give you 25 minutes a game. Chicago has Duncan Keith, but other than that, no one else who can match that sort of durability. I think the Flyers have more balanced scoring, to a degree. Not by much, but by a little. You can take out Richards, and there are still others, but taking out Toewes really takes a lot out of the Blackhawks game. Philly has been winning a lot of their games more convincingly than Chicago, in my opinion. I think they want it more. Finally, I think the Flyers are tougher to beat in Philly than the Blackhawks are in Chi-Town. In fact, the Hawks have shown they're quite beatable at home, as they're 5-3 at home in the playoffs right now. Philly is 7-1 at home, the one loss being against Boston just before the big comeback in that series. It's a gamble, as you don't hear too often about Cinderella teams winning Stanley Cups (it's VERY rare, if at all), but I'm taking the Flyers.

Flyers in 7: they are playing better as a team than Chicago right now. If they can lock down the main 3 Chicago O weapons, it could be a quicker series.

One thing I think people will forget fast about the Hawks is that Dustin Byfuglien is on a Roll right now. He scored a goal in every game against the Sharks (some being Clutch even) and started to show up at the end of the Vancouver series. He's pretty hot right now, so I believe you shut down the "Big 3" for the Hawks, but you have to contain this guy somehow. Then again, on the other hand, Leighton got his first Non-Shut Out Win of the series against the Habs to clinch the series, basically shutting down a team with a Hot Scorer (Camillarie going into that series) and the rest of the Habs that were on a good run. The other factor for the Flyers that'll show up big for them will be Pronger. Watch him, he will haunt the hell out of the Hawks, and as much as I hate him, will be a big reason to why they win.

I think the Flyers will take it in a very, very close 6 game series that'll be decided with at least 2 OT Games.

Hawks up 2-0 so far. Hawks have not played very good at all this series...and yet they are still up 2-0. Nieme bailed them out yesterday and in Game 1...they were just able to outrun and outshoot Philly.

I still expect Philly to win 1 in Philly and the Hawks to hoist the Cup in Chicago in Game 5

Congrats to the Hawks. I eat my words above. They, in some ways, looked stronger during the Finals than any other series, even the one where they swept the Sharks. Good killer instinct too with finishing the Flyers in Philly rather than waiting.

I also now would like to congratulate the Toronto Maple Leafs. You now have the longest Cup drought among active teams, at 43 years and counting. Of course, we'll see if they win more than two playoff series first (they've never done that).
