MLB 2010

Postby TMG » Fri May 07, 2010 11:58 am

Just thought I'd start one for this year, even though they're a month in already. I'm liking the look of my Yankees so far. (Minus Javier Vazquez of course!) How's everyone's team doing so far?

The Yankees took down the Red Sox last night with great pitching from Phil Hughes. I love seeing the Sox struggling! :D

I agree with TMG again.

In all seriousness though I'm really excited to be home for the summer to actually have the time to watch some games. Unfortunately we don't get many of the Yankees games where I live.
So, God is a woman. And a Relative, that's so coo! I am gonna totally ask for favors!

I get the YES network so I get most of their games on there. And when they're not on there, they are usually on Fox or UPN or something like that.

Yeah, I thought it was clear the guy was out, but the ump has since said he missed the call. Not much they can do about it now though.

If Griffey didn't get injured so much late in his career, I think he could've been at the top of the HR list.

- For the second straight year, the Nationals used the No. 1 overall Draft pick to take the year's most talked-about player. This year, that player is Bryce Harper of the College of Southern Nevada.
-Harper has the stats to warrant being taken with the No. 1 overall pick. In 2008, Harper had a .599 batting average with 11 home runs and 67 RBIs in 38 games for Las Vegas High School. He followed that up with a .626 batting average, 14 home runs and 55 RBIs the next season.

- Nationals rookie Stephen Strasburg makes one of the most highly anticipated debuts in Major League Baseball history at 7:05 ET tonight when he makes his first pitch to the Pirates.

- Making his Major League debut after 11 sensational Minor League starts, Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg pitched seven innings of two-run ball against the Pirates on Tuesday, earning the win and striking out 14 in the Nats' 5-2 victory.

A sellout crowd of 40,315 saw Strasburg allow just four hits, and his 14 strikeouts established a club record. The 14 strikeouts by Strasburg in a Major League debut were one shy of the all-time mark of 15 set by Karl Spooner in 1954 and J.R. Richard in '71. Even more amazing was that he struck out no more than nine batters in a game when pitching in the Minor Leagues.

Strasburg, who did the job without looking at scouting reports, threw 94 pitches, 65 for strikes, and didn't walk a batter. The righty retired his final 10 batters, striking out his last seven.
