CJMB Nostalgia

Postby Vintage Steamboat » Tue Apr 06, 2010 7:52 am

In this thread, we turn back the clocks and remember some of the great and the good of CJ's board.

Incidents like: Randy Orton's torch runner shouting at us; all those times the board died; etc.

People like: JBL_is_GOD, Jamiec55, Frimmers, MATT_M etc.

Board memes like: La Parka, Bistro, hitman.

Post your favourites, kids.

Hardcore championship thread circa 2003. Can't believe I've been around that long sometimes. Outsiders were a faction as well, classic times chillin at fernandos. Steven Taylor the heel, Crashette keeping me awake till 5.30 by demanding deep analysis of her geocities page, Powerslam magazine going mental because a few of us griefed it, ask joe, Jericho updating his page to basically call me an eejit, hitmans "hot birds", jamie being a fudge packer . . . Many more.

Haha, yeah that was quite funny when he had his huge rant.
hitman's hot 100 list was great.
Paul "pedo" Bach was fairly amusing. I remember having quite a few arguments with him on the old Black and red board.
random thinking that hitman had a twin is probably the funniest thing i've ever read on the board.

Off the top of my head:

- Hitman's Hot 100 list.
- Random thinking Hitman has a twin.
- Globallyconcerned vs. Go Jericho Go.
- Jamie being at the hospital is stuck in my head as I remember Neil talking to me about it during one of our get-togethers.
- Jamie's big rant at the end.
- TMG having a war with Liz and Neil sticks out too, as recent as it is. Neil's jokes about TMG changing poll results is something I don't think will ever get old.
- Jericho's big commentary in 2002 ranting against the internet and the resulting support from it, a lot from people he was ranting against.
- Y2P and Mae Young.
- Predictions league bet between myself, Neil, Vicki and Hitman.
- Various spats between Neil and Vicki are always awesome.
- #1 and #2 mods.

There are others I'll add later. When I remember them.
"I haven't seen a performance like that since mine in '72. Dallas Stadium. 80 man battle royal. Gauntlet. Yeah. 16 ring. Went down, it was me and the Von Erichs, there was 8 of them in the ring. I had the Claw on all 7 of them."

You thought it was great for an entirely different reason to the rest of us.

I'd forgotten about Hot4Hall and Dazz. They were both really weird. Dazz was okay I suppose, but he was such a fanny.

I remember something about it. There was so many of those sorts of threads with Michael involved that I can't really remember specific ones. I've nearly always avoided posting in political threads as well.

After about 9 years here I'm sure I'll forget lots but here goes.
In no particular order especially since there is no way I'd remember what happened when. I'll also try not to mention things already listed.

-The beginning of my role playing with Corporate Culture
-winning the world heavyweight title and only losing once
-The Outsiders, which began a lot of posting between Joe, Ash and myself. I miss you Ash.
-Crashette.
-Go Jericho's awesome role playing move list
-Dawn banning Mr Jericho himself.
-Becomming a mod
-Ben flipping out when he was no longer a mod, even though he hadn't posted anything in about a year.
-MSN chats
-Meetting Marty and Alex to watch a PPV at a bar
-Meeting Mr Marty's signifigant other.
-Going to Vegas for Liz' wedding, meeting my twin along with Pavan, Becky and Ashley
-Joe and Stuarts hottest male wars
-That dude who pretended he was a Michael Jackson impersonator and me proving he wasn't.
-Wars with Kristy

So much more. I'll have to finish this later.

I don't think anyone came over to the board from the original spamming some of us did on the first Hardy board in the Ask Joe Kickass thread. I stayed and posted on THS for a few years though and tried to persuade a few of the people like random, David, Stuart, Maria etc that CJMB was better than THS.

Neil makes me feel guilty that I haven't posted real-life stuff yet, as the above post was simply for the e-stuff specifically, so this one's for the meeting experiences:

- Meeting Neil and Alex, first at my then-residence, followed by dinner and a PPV viewing (No Way Out 2004, to be exact) at a bar. This was the night one of my favourite wrestlers of all time (Eddie Guerrero) won the WWE title from Brock Lesnar, also the show was in San Fran, so our own admin Dawn was at the show. Seemed somewhat appropriate.

- Meeting Vicki for the first time at a downtown blues bar. It's a place called The Rainbow here in Ottawa. One of my favourite moments was before Vicki and Neil showed up when a barmaid was talking to someone on the phone and saying, "No, this isn't a gay bar." Saw a performer named Anthony Gomes who always gives a fine concert anytime I see him.

- Various pool and bowling nights with Vicki, Neil, Alex, Amanda and various Walker family members. You guys haven't lived until you've seen Neil bowl with sunglasses on in the middle of RockNBall. Admittedly, yes, Neil has beaten me more than I've beaten him. And has drank me under the table. But it was still fun times.

- Also, the first time the Walkers met Amanda, we went to a restaurant called Mongolian Village, which is one of those stirfry buffet places. One of the most memorable moments was Vicki eating paper.

- Had Alex over twice at my place for DVD viewing. First time was for the Bret Hart DVD. Second time was for the Vince and Warrior DVDs (as a bit of a rib). Guess which one he enjoyed more.

- Finally, I have to mention the very first time I met someone online (from here or elsewhere) and that was Christine, who had come to Ottawa on a business trip. It was a short yet fun experience and, yes, I was nervous as heck. Christine is a really awesome person, though, and although she doesn't get on CJ's much these days, I'm glad to see she and Richard are doing very well in life right now. So, Christine, if you're reading this, thanks for helping me break the ice of this meeting people from the online world thing.

Good times all around.

The "flip Hitman off" photos were from a different night. I think a couple of years later, in fact.

It wasn't the same night as that PPV. I know because it was a different bar.

I've been posting here since August 2004.

stuff that i remember are:

-the non-stop spamming of the games forum on the old black and red board between, me, jessica holly (Jess) and wwechic13 or 15, whatever it was. (dunno what happened to her as the last i've seen her post was after her brother got stabbed. and that was early 2005 i think.) those were the days where we'd post over 100 times a day.

-the poster named elizabeth from the UK. who pretty much annoyed the hell out of everyone. she went as far as insulting my hearing impairment at one point.

-hot4hall and her constant drooling over Batista and Randy Orton in pretty much every topic in the WWE section.

-Suzanne vs Dawn and Suzanne vs everybody. She'd have a fit if dawn/we didn't agree with her or didn't get her way. especially when it came to Randy Orton.

-Neil making threads to tell how awesome he and his redheadness was. this was where both Meg and I started teasing him about it and claimed that Neil was ours. (this was waaay before Vicki joined)

-the entertaining threads between Christine and Neil where Christine's infamous whip was in play. of course everybody wanted to be whipped by Christine.

-when Hitman was teased about his weird fetish.

-Dawn being stripped as admin and banned. this was right before the old black/red board was hacked. a few hours beforehand i think. (correct me if i'm wrong)

-late night AIM chats between: me, dawn, christine, neil, marty, alex, heather, meg and later hitman(there were a few more, but don't remember who...possibly darren, josh and pezking). these were the chat where meg and i would keep neil up late into the wee hours of the morning.

-late night msn chats between me, meg and jess.

- all the "goodbye" threads.

-meeting Meg, in March 2007...when i decided to go to Winnipeg to hunt for a job. (there's only two people i have met off the internet. besides Meg, the other is one of my best friends who i met off the old msn chatrooms)

i'll post more when they come to me.

The good old days non stop posting with Jackie/Athenry and Alex/TNA_Fan/Squishy :D Shame they don't post here anymore :(

Anyone remember the time Neil got like 120 pm's in one day?

The grammar police will always have a special place in my heart :P

Talking about TNA back when it was good with Billy and Alex(TNA_Fan) among others

J.B_Winters being mocked

Any thread Josh madecwas always entertaining to read

Drewz, while he may have annoyed a few poeple in his last few days, was always fun to post with

Xclusiv's interviews

Good times :D Great thread Breffni

it wasnt my fault honewst all i did was make a little comment about how the dynamite kid is from wigan therefore he couldnt have a cockney accent!

this led to jericho saying sorry on his main page and he wrote it 20 times.
