Rules regarding pictures of Jericho

Postby mishymishy » Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:03 pm

I asked Dawn and Alex about this, and we are all kind of middle of the road, so I thought I'd just post a poll and see what the general consensus is.

Here is my question: I noticed the CJ fans in the picture thread complaining that photo search is limited on myspace or something. That got me thinking, is it ok for them to be posting pictures of strangers and Chris Jericho? Like, if I took a pic with a celeb and uploaded it to myspace to share with my friends, that would be ok, but if it was reposted on a public forum without my knowledge I'd be creeped out. I don't know. Part of me thinks it's not really fair to the people who are having their photos reposted without their permission, the other part thinks "well, if they didn't want their photo put up, they shouldn't put it out there on the internet."

Thoughts?

I feel that if you choose to upload something to the internet, all bets are off.

I have no problem with this at all as that is what the internet is for. The myspace thing is different due to predators and the like. Controlling such things like this to me brings up more of a moral issue...too much/unnecessary censorship.

I'm with Cory. I think anyone who puts pics on the internet, should be aware that they could be used elsewhere. Isn't there an option, where you can make your pics private on myspace anyway?

I'm with Cory and Steven on this.

I see Cory, Steven and Marty's points but I do think it's kind of weird that people would be willing to post any pic they can find, just for the sake of posting Jericho. If I was into that thread, I'd want to post pics that were different or unusual about CJ or just plain flattering. Anyone can find any old ordinary pic of Jericho with a fan. The thread sometimes leans more towards a spam thread than a picture thread.

The problem is I see both sides. Like Dawn, I think they are just posting for the sake of posting. I will leave it be for now then, since there hasn't been any other complaints.

people I don't even know have posted pics of me and Jericho in the picture thread without my permission, but yeah what can you do because I had them posted before online so it was open to everyone. it wasn't on a protected site and even though I took them down doesn't mean somebody didn't get them before that, so no if you put it online (and it's not protected as a private picture or whatever) then no you can't complain if somebody puts it on another site. HOWEVER it might be a courtesty if somebody ASKS that they take it down, then to take it down because the original owner asked them to.
