Eminem - Recovery

Postby Youre All Hypocrites » Thu Jun 03, 2010 3:37 am

I hope I posted this in the right section. The "White People Discuss Rock Bands" forum of CJMB was the closest I could find.

So who's looking forward to this? What do you think of Not Afraid? How ****ing sick was Despicable?

Yeah it should be good. I've liked most of Eminem's music, so i'm interested to see what this is like.

Listened to the leak. Definitely his best album since The Eminem Show (and I actually liked Relapse). My current favorite is "No Love" which samples "What Is Love" by Haddaway.

Been listening to my leaked copy since last night. I'm pretty impressed. The production is totally different from past Eminem albums (only one Dre track). Also, the diversity between tracks is a huge strength of the album. Every track seems to carry it's own mood and ambiance. I've heard some people bitch about the fact that the album sounds "too commercial" (Rihanna and Pink are on tracks), but I think these people are drinking pure haterade. The fact is that the guests on the album are kept to a minimum and where they do appear, they enhance the song. In fact, "Love the Way You Lie", the Rihanna track, is a ridiculously good song (and I hate Rihanna). Lyrically, I'm not joking when I say this might be Eminem's best work since The Marshall Mather's LP or t least The Eminem Show. The best part of the album is that it finally sounds like Eminem has evolved; gone are the phony accents, fart jokes, over-the-top rape fantasies, and petulant whining. Instead, mature themes like overcoming substance abuse, dealing with grief, loss of confidence and self esteem, and most importantly redemption, run throughout. In fact, Recovery may be Eminem's most personal album to date - he really puts it all out there. Don't judge the album until you give it about three spins, there is just too much content to digest.

I honestly can't decide which track is my favorite, usually a good sign that you're listening to a great album - maybe even a classic. Right now I have the song, "25 to Life" on repeat - such an awesome concept for a song.

I can't wait to see who's gonna find him "offensive" this time.

Also, Lil Wayne would have ruined "No Love" if Eminem's verse wasn't one of the nastiest verses in rap history. But that's what it took to overcome Wayne's mediocrity.
