Jericho Returns to New Japan to Attack EVIL

EVIL and Zack Sabre, Jr. were set to compete in a special challenge match at New Japan Pro Wrestling King of Pro Wrestling event. It was a match that was widely looked at as having implications as to who would be the first challenger for Chris Jericho and his IWGP Intercontinental Championship.

The show was going to plan with entrances proceeding as usual. Sabre, Jr. and Taka Michinoku would cut a promo in the ring on the King of Darkness and EVIL would then enter the arena whilst being carried on a throne by multiple masked figures. Everything seemed to be going normal until a masked member of the King of Darkness’ entourage quickly turned on EVIL as he entered the ring and began to attack. It was revealed that the masked culprit in the mask was indeed the IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho.

Jericho attacked EVIL at length before unmasking and then hitting him with the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Jericho beat EVIL up so badly that the referee Tiger Hattori had no choice but to call the scheduled match off.

Within a day of this taking place, it was revealed that on November 3rd at Edion Arena in Osaka, EVIL will take on Chris Jericho for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship.
